Commercial & First
1905-1954
Small elementary school built in 1905 with four rooms. It was rebuilt and much enlarged with four additional rooms in 1907. By the end of 1924, there were also 6 temporary classrooms on the grounds. It was vacant from 1950 and demolished in 1954.

The entire west side of the 1600-block Commercial was demolished to build the Il Mercarto Mall and attached premises that stretch from First Avenue north to Graveley today. The inside mall (1641) has contained an eclectic mix of restauarants, clothing stores and other services, while the upstairs offices were utilized by lawyers and BC Health.
