BP 1909/2/9 to Edwin Hayes, $1,000. Described as 1 1/2 storey. Between 1912 and 1941, the rear of 1416 was used as a residence. 1917/2/1: Small fire caused $25 damage (Vancouver World, p.10). In April 1952, the building was purchased by H.Isman, an auctioneer, who proposed building a three-storey structure on the lots. But nothing came of that. 1952/7/10: Dr Cohen opened his office having “completely remodelled the building … in accordance with the most modern practice in medical office arrangement.”

BP A-6324 1923/8/4 to J.B. Elliogolt, $6,000. Building renovation in the winter of 1944/34. The renovation completely “modernized” the store. The front was completely changed by “lowering the windows in accord with modern trends and practices and which provides show windows … The front is completed with the generous use of black vitrolite and the rock candy tiles at the entrance furnish a bunch of colour.” The interior was expanded to the full depth of the lot.

Another major renovation in 1975 to 1470.
