Built by Clarence Webber, this store occupied 1320 Commercial. Behind the store were 1,300 Arctic Food Lockers. Within a few months of opening people were already using the lockers to store both garden produce and hunting successes. One man stored 200lbs of fish he had caught. In October 1948 they added an ice cream, coffee and sandwich bar under Mrs. Baylis. “Still another feature at the Arctic is the wired music which plays softly during the whole time the store is open. This is the first time this service has been introduced in any suburban store in Vancouver.”

In June 1950, the store underwent significant alterations, giving more space to shoppers. Building was damaged by fire in January 1965. Another fire in August 1972 severely damaged the store and all 5 apartments.
